Everdream Valley VR, developed by the team at Mooneaters, is out today for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest 2. Priced at $19.99, this reimagined version lets you immerse yourself in a cozy farm adventure, stepping into the shoes of a child enjoying summer break.

Forget button mashing — here, you’ll be growing crops, gathering resources, fixing up the old farm, catching bugs, digging for buried treasures, or even whipping up home-cooked meals, all with your own two hands. Unlike the original Nintendo Switch release, every activity in the VR edition is hands-on, making the experience feel more personal and immediate.

Translating Everdream Valley to VR was no small feat. The original game relied on a third-person perspective, so most of the interactions and mechanics had to be rebuilt from scratch to work with the VR view and Quest’s motion controllers.

For Marek Maruszczak, Everdream Valley VR’s co-designer, Meta Quest was the obvious choice to deliver an immersive summer getaway. As he puts it in the Meta blog, “Cozy Games are all about the vibe. No rush, no stress — just a world full of small joys waiting around every corner. And VR is the ultimate escape pod.”

Interactive animals and whimsical dreams

Life on your VR farm comes with a whole cast of creatures. Cows, pigs, ducks, alpacas, sheep, bees, deer, wild boars, butterflies, wolves, mice, and even snails fill out your barnyard and the surrounding wilds. Most of them are interactive: you can feed, pet, and cuddle them, each with their own unique quirks and personalities.

The game’s dream sequences are a standout feature: at night, animals visit you in your dreams — some become gigantic, some act in odd ways, and a few even speak, dropping hints about tasks for the next day.

Marek Maruszczak, clearly a fan of the game’s animals, says: “Animals are my favorite part of the original game. And now I can pet my favorite alpaca from any angle. I can spook her, shear her, or hold two chickens at once and pretend they’re kissing. Please don’t judge me.”

Beyond animal antics, Everdream Valley VR packs in plenty of relaxing activities: from tending vegetable patches and caring for livestock, to repairing the farm, bug catching, treasure hunting, and cooking up meals with fresh ingredients you’ve gathered yourself.
